I thru-hiked the entire Appalachian Trail in the years 2015 and 2016. I have seen many films about the AT, but this is by far the best one I ever have viewed. The interviews with the hikers give a true sense of what it actually is like to hike the AT, unlike the Bill Bryson tripe "A Walk in the Woods" (which I hated, especially the scenes about them throwing excess gear away on the trail). The photography is wonderful, and many scenes almost brought a tear to my eye seeing them again. The history of the genesis and the building of the AT is spot-on, and several of the signature trail personalities, in particular "Baltimore Jack" are interviewed. (Baltimore Jack died in early 2016, not long after his interview). I actually met at least 4 of the hikers interviewed in the film during my 2015 hike, so I can personally vouch for the authenticity of the characters. When you watch the movie, I would recommend turning on the English subtitles, as on occasion the dialog is hard to hear due to muffled voicing, or overly loud background music (my only minor complaint about the editing). So, do yourself a favor, and order the DVD or Blu-Ray if you want to really experience what it is like to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail.
