"Butchers" is nothing new to fans of horror, but it did have potential. The acting ranged from alright to great, mostly thanks to our antagonists. Visually it was very appealing and the gore was decent when it was used. There were a few "Jumpscare" moments, but also some genuine moments of shock. The writing was a mixed bag. There are some great character moments, but I think the script could have used some more work, especially the ending. The ending was kind of abrupt and just made me think "Oh...so is that it? Alright". For a casual viewer who is not well-versed in the horror genre I'd give it a try. It's not a bad watch and might get you interested in some other films that are similar. For the more hardcore horror lovers it's nothing you haven't seen before, but still a good way to spend a night at home.

Not Bad, But Nothing New
Rednecks hunting young people done right
No slow build up at the beginning, just BAM straight into the murkiness of what it's all about. It then does a of bit slow building up when a group of mid 20s car breaks down. Here's the only weak spot of cliché dialogue and average acting until the ball gets rolling again. Swatton and Phillips deliver a great performance with purposeful directing. While there's no real depth to the character's story, anyone rating this under 5 stars needs to watch more indie horror films.
Chop it up.
Butchers is so unoriginal you know what's going to happen at every "Wrong Turn," still it's alright. Simon Phillips does a decent job as lead butcher. We know almost nothing about the characters, except they're cheating on each other. Pretty forgettable, but you can do a lot worse than this.
