What a Movie!!

A young man receives an emergency phone call on his cell phone from an older woman. The catch? The woman claims to have been kidnapped; and the kidnappers have targeted her husband and child next. Cellular has some great full of suspense action sequences and lots of chases on foot or with cars. The perfomances from Chris Evans, Kim Basinger and Jason Statham are top notch and the interactions on the phone between the 2 leads were powerful enough for me to care about them and their survival as characters overall also there's some great humor and i loved the end credits style too, fans of the Cast and people who like action thrillers won't be disappointed. An entertaining thriller.

Cellular is an entertaining fast-paced thriller. The plot is about "Ryan Ackerman" (Chris Evans) who gets a phone call from a complete stranger "Jessica Martin" (Kim Basinger) she is very distressed and tells him that she has been kidnapped and that she has been clicking wires together, he doesn't believe her, but he still decides to go to the police to help her, there's commotion at the police station and he is told to take the phone call upstairs to another cop, "Ryan" then hears the bad guy "Ethan" (Jason Statham) over the phone threaten "Jessica", "Ryan" then believes her 100% and goes out of his way to help her. The performances are perfect and there's a tiny bit of humour mainly from an arrogant lawyer (played by Rick Hoffman, his character actually doesn't have a name). The only thing wrong with this film is the swearing, the words "Holy S*it" are used a lot and there's no need for it, Larry Cohen and Chris Morgan should have calmed down with those curse words when writing the story and screenplay (movies are not realistic, so why not go one step further and ban swearing from movies altogether?! and use milder words like "Oh, Snap" instead?!) Apart from the swear words, Cellular is brilliant. It is compared to "Phone Booth" (which has even more swearing, that movie has so much swearing that it actually ruined the film). There probably will not be any future movies similar to Cellular due to cellphones changing dramatically over the years, there's many ways to call for help via cellphones nowadays, a plot like Cellular probably wouldn't be even halfway plausible anymore.

An exhilarating thrill ride!

Awesome flick! Kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The plot twists were surprisingly convincing and I didn't have to stretch too far to suspend disbelief. It way outshone my expectations and I found myself swept right up in the action. The acting was superb and the direction kept us moving from nail-biting suspense to laughing at the stereotyped ignorant store clerks, nasty lawyers and others that are encountered at various points in the script. What a great balance of believable and amusing! We had the greatest time enjoying this film. The parts that weren't so believable were very satisfying and the parts that were believable were incredibly suspenseful. The point is, the whole thing made for a terrific package. No, you won't go home a better person for having seen this. And you won't carry the images with you or ponder great philosophies because of it. It's not a To Kill a Mockingbird of Of Mice and Men, but it is a wonderful escape from all you problems for a couple hours and you'll feel like you've been on the most exhilarating thrill ride you could find in the park! All thumbs up for this one!
