Do you have Walter Raleigh in a can

The era of crank phone calls has sure taken a twist. When fast food restaurant manager (Ann Dowd) gets a phone call from someone identifying himself as policeman, she springs into action. Young Becky is accused of stealing from a customer. The assistance of the manager and others in this matter grows until it becomes inane. The film brings light to the problem of serial strip search crank calls...something I didn't know existed. This film is based on the Mount Washington, Kentucky incident which BTW was a McDonald's. The film acting was okay. There is a high perv factor whenever you force a young girl to be stripped searched. Unfortunately this is pretty much the entire film as there is no real subplot to entertain us. This is one of those pervert films masquerading as something that makes a statement such as "Shame." Watch it. Enjoy it. Disturbing? Thought provoking? Oh Please. It's soft core porn. Parental Guidance: F-bombs, nudity (Dreama Walker).

True Story but overly dramatic shooting

I know this is based on true events but a large number of the decisions made were either illogical or naively made. It gets to the point of irritation. Why would a police officer make these claims of stolen money with the customer there but he's searching her house? Also, what police officer would conduct a criminal search and investigation without being present? The cinematography was also dark and gritty but a lot of the macro shots and close ups were unnecessary. It felt like they were there to be "creepy" paired with the music or used to pad out the run time. The acting at the beginning was so stiff and line delivery was off. The bit about "sexting" just felt forced. It's decent but takes itself far too seriously but without any real sort of tension. I can't figure out the stakes to the film since there aren't any real consequences if they simply hang up. I just can't buy into the tension of the film.

You gotta see it to believe it!

I stumbled upon this film about a week ago and decided to see it since the premise seemed quite interesting and now it just won't leave my mind. I'm not going to give anything away when it comes to the story itself since I think the film will have an even greater effect if you don't know anything about it. It is almost impossible to believe that this is based on a true story. My thoughts towards the end of the film were that they surely added some events purely for dramatic purposes but it turns out that everything actually happened like already mentioned in some of the previous reviews. What went through the minds of all the people involved in this story and why they made such incomprehensible decisions and the light bulb above their heads never went on is beyond me. I realise that psychological experiments have been made in the past on the subject of obeying authority with some shocking results but this story is just insanely hard to believe. The film will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time and definitely provoke a strong reaction. The acting was very good and seemed natural, same goes for direction and of course the pace. If you you like thought provoking films that don't leave you cold and you can debate them with your friends for days to come this is definitely for you. It is a very well made film that you shouldn't miss.
