This poorly thought out and highly plagiarized work is just another reason why Black cinema is not taken seriously by the mainstream. This piece reminds me as a kid that I couldn't draw so I would sketch around another finished piece of art and then use crayons to fill in. The sad thing is that I could never stay in the sketched lines, which made for an ugly final work. "Frat Brothers" is an ugly work. Much of the plot feels like it was lifted straight from "Stomp the Yard" with a tough of "Love and Basketball" tossed in. The acting isn't so bad and if these young actors had a strong script to work with I think their acting would rise to the challenge. Furthermore as a Brother of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc I find the similarities between my frat and the fictitious Delta Gamma frat disturbing. As stated, this type of low budget programming should have never been picked up by any network. BET has never been a source of cutting edge programming and I don't expect that they ever will but this piece of trash should have never seen the light of day.
Two brothers pledge different fraternities, which leads to a question of loyalty.
