As a major fan of dark, gritty stories, Hellkat delivered on just that. This movie took me back to when I first watched the Mortal Kombat movie from 1995, with it's compelling villain (the tournament host) and it's simple, but engaging plot. Hellkat doesn't rely on a gore gimmick like a lot of lower budget movies I've seen. It has substance; I loved the satire on evangelicalism. Instead of the hell setting being portayed as an inferno, it's more grounded and subtle. I HIGHLY recommend checking this out if you're looking for an over-the-top martial arts movie. Despite it's serious moments, you can have a lot of fun watching Hellkat.
