Poor little Arthur - an adorable child if there ever was one - is being bullied by three older boys at school. His doting and overly-protective mother finds out about it and decides to intervene. And that is where the fun starts. The mother's increasingly crazy and unlikely strategies to give the trio of miscreants their comeuppance are the basis of the humour. I know that some people will complain that no one would ever act like the mother in this story. They're probably correct (at least I hope so!) That's what makes this funny and clever though. Remember, is just a movie and it is purposefully over the top. Bullying is a serious problem, however; and this movie does not shy away from that. In fact, for all of its fun, this movie has a lot to say about the two vices that drive it along - bullying and overprotective parenting. In fact it is the humour that makes that message, when it comes, so powerful. The actors in this movie do a great job, and all of them seem to be having a lot of fun. The plot moves quickly and, at only 85 minutes in length, the movie never becomes dull. This movie will probably best be enjoyed by preteens and adults. I know I really liked it.
