Cyanide in the cake

Hallmark Mystery Channel has now another female amateur detective in its stable. They have more female detectives working on series at this point than Herbert J. Yates had cowboy heroes under contract to Republic Pictures back in the day. Based on a story by morning show legend Al Roker, Holly Robinson-Peete stars as a restaurant owner and chef who does a regular cooking segment on a morning talk show. But Robinson-Peete is about to lose it all when the producer of the show is poisoned from a cake baked at her restaurant. At least everyone thinks it was a cake from there. This also is connected to the death of the co-host of the show Robinson-Peete appears on previously thought to be from anaphelaptic shock. Investigating the homicide turns out to be an old friend of Holly's, Rick Fox. These two have history going back to high school and both married the wrong people. This will be a recurring theme if the series catches on. I'm sure we will have at least two or three more from this series. The solution is really under everyone's noses, someone who is an eager helpful Harriet who is taken for granted by all. The series is off to a good start.

Very entertaining new series

I have been a Hallmark movie fan for many years. I did not find this predictable at all. The acting was decent and definitely on par with all the other Hallmark movies. I am glad to see Hallmark adding more diversity to their movie lineup. Can't wait to watch more episodes in this series!

First, I love the cast of characters. Honestly, this is the better of the two in the mystery series. All things being fair it's more than worth a watch. I would like to see more of this series. I think it is on par with all the other mystery series you find on the Hallmark Mystery Movie Network.
