Will Smith's Kid ruined it for me.

If Klatu and his robot had come to Earth to kill Jaden Smith, i would have given this Movie 10 stars. I'll be Frank. this kid ruined the movie for me. The 1951 version is still my favorite. 2008 version has some good effects, But changing the storyline is stupid. Casting is atrocious. And I'll say it again Jaden Smith killed the Movie for me.

Life Threat From Outer Space

Movie Review: "The Day The Earth Stood Still" (2008) One of the event movies of Holiday season 2008/2009 turns out to be uncorking, suspenseless moral science-fiction-tale on environmental maintenance and social stability. Based on on 1950s classic directed by Robert Wise (1914-2005), remake director Scott Derrickson gets corrupted by Hollywood politics, enslaved by an mediocre script by David Scarpa, which lured an ensemble cast led by actress Jennifer Connelly and Keanu Reeves as the infamous character in an human body from outer space Klaatu, further over-ambitious supporting characters including Kathy Bates and Jon Hamm, who at no time had a chance to deliver any decisive beats to a rooster of endless shot raw footage, enriched with some high-end visual effects, only to end up with motion picture of 100 minutes, which wanted to be an epic science-fiction adventure, where characters are not just thread to lose their lives by an extraterrestrial invasion but their innocence in human conflicts in the process of survival. © 2017 Felix Alexander Dausend (Cinemajesty Entertainemtns LLC)

NOT A REMAKE..unfortunely

This The Day The Earth Stood Still 2008 was not a Remake of the Classic The Day The Earth Stood Still 1951. The Day The Earth Stood Still 1951. The Primary Goal of Klaatu was for Earth to keep their Destructive Nature (Petty squabbles) limited only to Earth or be Destroyed as a threat to the rest of the Planets (Galaxies). The Day The Earth Stood Still 2008. The Primary Goal of Klaatu was to warn Humans to stop Destroying Earth. The idea that Earth like Planets were very limited according to this version of Klaatu, as "Advanced Tech" Klaatu not knowing about the science of "Terraforming" other Planets. The idea of Gort (a name, World Policeman, 1951) becoming G.O.R.T. an acronym as named by the Humans (not Klaatu) as the very Destroyer of Worlds by becoming nanobots (destroying everything except the limited saved by the alien spheres) is quite Counterproductive to the stated primary goal of Klaatu of The Day The Earth Stood Still 2008, destroy Humanity to Save Earth, as the released nanobots destroyed everything, plants, trees, animals, metal, concrete, and anything not in the alien spheres. How long would Klaatu take to recreate the food supplies, food sources, food chain for all the species saved in the alien spheres (arks). Killing off one kind of plant, grass, could result in the extinction of an entire species and the other species that feed on the other species that eat those plants, grasses, seeds that were permanently destroyed by G.O.R.T.'s nanobots.
