Nicely set in the beautiful Pacific Northwest this moving tale of romance and life is well scripted and well acted. The story has good pace and keeps you engaged right until the end. Main characters are compelling and drew me into the story. Worth a watch. I recommend.

I was drawn into watching The Last Hot Lick after seeing some good festival laurels on the poster image. It did not disappoint. The film is pretty, honest, and a pleasure to listen to as well. I'm reading just now in another review that the lead actors may have been non-actors, or first time actors, which is remarkable because I really appreciated their performances. If you're into indie films about musicians, and a bit more, then The Last Hot Lick is definitely worth a watch.

Mahalia Cohen delivers a poignant drama about an aging songwriter meeting an unexpected muse. Jaime Leopold is totally charismatic and likeable in the lead role. Subtle photography of a little known part of Oregon. The Last Hot Lick is a gentle ride with underlaying questioning about self-accomplishment and the power of art and giving. Brilliant.
