Has Heart and Laughs but I've come to Expect more from Spielberg and Hanks,

The Terminal is a good movie with a well developed storyline and a great cast.I have certainly come to expect better from Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, both easily some of the most talented men in Hollywood, and if their previous work together (Saving Private Ryan and Catch Me If You Can) is any indication, this movie should have been a classic, and I understand that they were taking a risk and were doing a very unique movie,it just didn't turn out as well as it could have.Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones scenes together are certainly the movies highlights, there is great chemistry between them and seeing Tom Hanks deliver one of his most unique performances was fun to watch.I felt the movie could have been better with a funnier script,it had many funny parts, but for a film that is considered a comedy,it is very dramatic.Nothing outstanding but still an enjoyable two hours,I would recommend the Terminal if you ever see it on television and are looking for a decent comedy or drama, but don't go out of your way to see it. Victor Navorski (Tom Hanks) has to live in an airport terminal after there is a coup in his Eastern European home country while he's visiting New York. Best Performance: Tom Hanks

A classic in my book

The Terminal is a classic film, a very unique one. I say that it is unique because I truly can't think of a another film like it. The plot revolves around Tom Hanks's character, a foreign man traveling from a country that is in ruins and now he cannot go back to his country because it no longer exists, but the airport can't let him go into America either, so he has no choice but to stay in the terminal. Stanley Tucci plays the man working at the airport who is basically in charge. He quickly becomes the antagonist in the film, and he plays that role well, Tucci has flexed his acting muscle in other great movies such as Devil wears prada, Julie and Julia, and more, and this one is no exception. Hanks ofcourse shines in the lead role, as he always does, I remember being amazed at the accent and how great he nails it, I also love how he portrayed Victor, his character. Hanks plays Victor with a lovability that's just undeniable. That lovability is crucial for this character, it must be expressed through him in order for the entire film to work in the way it's supposed to be. Then there's Catherine Zeta Jones. I absolutely love her and her character in this film. She plays a fight attendant that frequently comes to the airport that Victor is at, and he develops feelings for her. They have great chemistry together and I couldn't take my eyes away from the screen when they are together. Theirs isn't a grand epic love story, but it's a very sweet endearing one, and it works perfectly for the movie. The writing really is great and I love it has some comedy and sweet, touching moments. It's very balanced, and it makes for a great film.

Charming Spielberg/Hank comedy

I watched this again recently with my 16yr old son, who enjoyed it he was laughing and smiling throughout. I explained to him this is based on a trued story of Merhan Nasseri who lived in Frances main airport for 18 years which in itself is remarkable. I've seen a few negative reviews on this movie and personally I don't see why. They made the movie their own and in a comedic style and for me they pulled it off, yes of course you have to suspend belief with the likes of Zeta Jones who looks stunning in this falling for Viktor (Hanks) I mean would Zeta Jones fall for a much older guy in real life.....oh wait Hers is a tragic character and I dare say there is some woman who are like that, keep falling for the wrong guy and keep going back for more. The other sad character was played by Diego Luna stalking, yes lets be fair stalking Zoe Saldana and getting Viktor to get info from her then eventually presenting her with a ring. She still had no idea who was interested in her c'mon this is really where you have to suspend belief. Give this movie a go it's up there with "Catch me if you can" another Spielberg/Hanks movie as an easy watch that is quite charming and sweeps you up.
