This one's for Lifetime fans. Two young sisters lose their parents when dad goes to Vietnam and mom splits for the bright lights. Two tracks to the story: The girls live with their grandparents (Melissa Gilbert and Corbin Bernsen) on a farm in 1967 and the adult version of the girls return in 1996 after years of estrangement. Added complication for the little girls is learning to understand their senile great-grandmother (Cloris Leachman). Mild drama, mild comedy. Happy times, sad times. Made-for-TV level production. Predictable, not memorable.

Synopsis
In 1967, two sisters are abandoned and raised by grandparents in the town of Fireside. Humor, heartbreak and triumph are served with whipped cream and lots of local nuts in this heartwarming tale of family, friendship and forgiveness.

Warm and cuddly but predictable
Horrible
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE save your money and skip this movie. I checked it out cause of reviews and I was throughly disappointed. Bad acting bad story bad everything.
A touching movie
First, the cars have to be right for a period movie and they were for the late 60's. I hate it when I see a 70's car in a 60's period movie. This is a TV movie that contains some exceptional acting. I agree with "jonathangrubbs" that Cloris Leachman, Darby Camp and Chandler Head were very good. There was one scene, however, where Corbin Bernsen was downright GREAT.
